Photographer's Statement and Biography I have many passions in life, and I use photography to try and capture them. To me, photography is both representitive and interpretive; it allows me to capture what is before me and wide enough to allow me to create what can be seen. Photography is also subjective. That is the beauty of it. Each photographer brings his and her own vision to an image. What I also find atrractive about photography, and to all art for that matter, is that is doesn't have to please everyone. While I strive to provide my clients with what they request, I can bring my sight and vision to the table as well. This is what I hope brings people to engage me in their life. Many people ask, "Why do you take pictures?" I try not to think of it as "taking pictures," but more like "creating an image." Sure, I can take a picture; I often do. But, my passion in photography is more than just documenting an event or a place or a person; it's to create a photographic image or print of what my mind's eye sees. What I hope to bring to the public and clients is a celebration of what is around us and an appreciation for things we sometimes do not see.
I was born and raised in the Hudson Valley Region of New York State. I continue to live here as I truly believe it's one of the most beautiful areas of the country. I've had the pleasure of travelling this great country as far as the mid-west, but my heart keeps coming back to the Hudson Valley. I'm a computer professional by trade. I work in Traditional Business Disaster Recovery as a Senior Systems Engineer for the leading Business Continuity provider in the cournty. I'm not able to incorporate my photography with my employment; this makes me appreciate my art that much more when I practice it. I hope that you find my work appealling so much as to allow me to help you cherish and keep those special moments in your life. Tom Duggan Highland Mills, NY USA Photo credit: Joe
